Someone recently told me that our series posts are awesome and easy to follow.
And she expressed frustration about how long it takes for her to write a post like that, because it requires time to research, plan, and let’s see… actually write.
I agree, series posts can be exhausting to write!
You need to include images and links, and at the same time to make sure the steps are correct and the blog post is in perfect shape to publish.
However, you can make it easy if you follow these steps.
So… are you ready to learn my secrets for creating great series posts?
1. Plan your series blog post
Will you have 3, 5, or 10 posts in the series? 3 to 6 is ideal, anything more than that would probably get your readers confused and they may forget the point you wanted to make.
2. Prepare your blog post images
Either take the photos yourself, or look for images online and store them into an easy to find location on your computer.
Don’t forget to optimize your images so they display nicely on your blog.
If you have many images in a post, which is usually the case with series posts, you’ll still want the post to load quickly.
3. Write your blog post titles
Create all your posts titles, in draft mode. Use the name of the series and the name of the post.
Stay away from cryptic titles, with only numbers in them, as they cannot be understood by search engines.

4. Write your blog post content
Create all your blog posts in draft mode, write the text to accompany the images, and add the images to your posts. Do not publish the posts yet.
5. Add intro text to your blog posts
At the beginning of each blog post in the series, explain what step in the sequence the current post is, what are the previous steps and the next steps.
So your readers feel comfortable they are in the right place, they completed or read the previous content, and they know what to expect next.
6. Add ending text to your blog posts
At the end of each blog post in the series, explain what step in the sequence the current post was, and what is the the next step or post in the series.
7. Add links to your blog posts
Go through all your posts in the series and add links to the other posts.
These are the ones you have at the top and at the end of your posts (steps 5 and 6 above).
You can still add other links throughout the blog posts, but don’t overdo it, or you’ll take your readers onto different paths and confuse them.
8. Final edit and publish/schedule your blog post
Take another look at your posts in the series, edit as needed, and get ready to publish.
I usually publish the first one and then schedule the rest so that one goes out every week. Your blogging schedule may be different, use your own.
9. Announce your blog posts
Announce the new series on social media, forums, or groups you’re actively participating in.
When a new post in the series gets published, don’t forget to mention there are new ones coming, so you build some anticipation.
10. Relax and enjoy
You did it! Your series blog post is published and your blog traffic is soaring. Comments are pouring in.
Now go get a piece of that yummy cake from step 3 and enjoy!
