Are you stranded on the I cannot blog desert island? Are you sometimes full of ideas, you write them down, you even write a few draft posts?
But then life starts getting on the way and it can take a few weeks until you feel inspired to write again?
You want to be consistent but it feels really hard to do so when you are juggling lots of other tasks for your business…
First of all, you are not alone. I feel the same many times and that’s why I want to share with you a few tips that helped me a lot to be more consistent with my blogging habits.
1. Define your own version of blogging consistency
It can be either every week or it can be every day, or a few times a week. Try to stay consistent with a schedule that feels doable to you and you will notice that blogging becomes easier.
When you feel inspired to write 5-10 posts in a week, write them (see Tip #2), but don’t publish these posts immediately.
Instead, schedule them (see Tip #3) every other day or every Sunday morning, however you like. Just be consistent in your own terms.
2. Write blog posts in batches
Sit down for one full hour on Saturday morning, for example, and write, write, write.
Don’t try to write perfectly, but try your best to stay focused on the writing task and not to get distracted. This way, you can end up with 3 blog posts in one hour!
Then let these posts sit for 1-2 days. The third or fourth day, set another full hour to review, revise, and add images.
Here you go, all set with the blog posts for the entire week! You can now sit down and relax.
Well, not yet! First you need to…
Have a publishing schedule in place
If you are writing your posts in your favourite Word editor, you need to move them into WordPress or your blogging platform.
Or if you are writing them directly in WordPress (like I do), you can save them as drafts from the moment that you have an idea to write a post.
When they are final and ready to go, schedule them to be published according to the schedule that you want to stick to (see Tip #1).
What tip will you implement to be more consistent with your blogging? Or do you feel you’re already blogging consistently and you’d like to add a few tips?
