Are you stuck in the I cannot blog gear because you keep telling yourself:
I am not the best writer!
Well, hopefully the ideas in this post with help you move into the right direction and on with blogging.
1. Blog as if you’re chatting with a friend
Keep in mind that a blog post is a conversation, not a dissertation. Not a book and not a masterpiece, unless you wanted to!
Try to be direct and be, simply put, YOU.
Bring your own uniqueness so that people can relate to you. Readers want to see and feel there’s someone real behind your blog.
2. Blog as if you’re playing
As adults, we tend to take things too seriously and expect the absolute best of everything we do. Blogging included.
If you feel your blog posts have to be perfect, I’d like you to try and challenge that way of thinking.
The reality is that… You don’t need to be the best writer. Provide good information but don’t worry too much about making it perfect.
Simply sit down for 30 minutes and write your post. If you’d like to fine-tune it over and above those 30 minutes, sure, go ahead. But only if you’re still enjoying the process.
3. Blog without writing
Are you still not convinced that writing is your thing? Then how about blogging through other media, such as images, video, or audio?
Let me give you a few examples:
If you want to blog about your baking business, you can include pictures with different stages of your yummy creation.
If you want to blog about your wine tasting business, you can include pictures of delicious dishes and how they go with a special wine that you’d choose.
If you want to blog about your wedding planning business, you can post pictures of happy clients (with their permission, of course) and a little testimonial they provided.
For video and audio, there are plenty of resources on the web on how to create them, many of them free! If writing is not your thing, but you do quite well talking and being on camera, your “can’t blog” issue is resolved, voila!
What tip will you commit to try out so you overcome your fear of blogging? If you never had trouble blogging, what’s your top tip for people who feel they can’t blog?
